The Active Lifestyles Program provides adults an opportunity to access and engage in recreational opportunities, stay active and socialize. The diverse program selection includes instructional classes, travel, lectures, daily recreation, special events, fitness, art and more. The Active Lifestyles Program offers specialized programming for adults 50 & up.
Discover interesting facts and innovative tips in the area of healthy longevity, active aging, and overall well-being. The triannual newsletter also lists upcoming trips, services, seasonal classes and events scheduled at the centers. While a number of programs and classes require a fee, each center offers free daily activities.

The North Newport News Community Center’s (NNN) programs include Mahjong, Pinochle, Civic League meetings, the Scrapbook Club: Picture Perfect, Dominoes, special events, and educational workshops.

Created in 1992 to address major issues, enhance public awareness, assist staff with program planning / improvement projects, and to promote a positive image of aging and disabilities through education. The committee is made up of a group of citizens who share a concern for others and provide a means by which participants can address issues that are pertinent to the services provided by Newport News Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
