The City of Newport News has community garden plots available at TWO locations for Newport News residents.

• The Community Garden in Hilton is located behind the Main Street Library on Municipal Lane (5 ’x 10’ raised garden beds). View a diagram of the Community Garden in Hilton. Community Garden at Hilton Fee Per Plot: $25
• The Community Garden – Yorktown Road is located in the large open field at 75 Yorktown Road in the Lee Hall area of the City (plots are 18’ x 40’ in size). View a diagram of the Community Garden in Lee Hall plot layout and parking area (PDF). Community Garden at Lee Hall Fee Per Plot: $30

Plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but you must apply and pay a fee to be a gardener. Call 886-7912 for information.

Application Process

Please read the Community Garden Rules on the application, and then fill out the application for the garden you are interested in: Community Garden Application – Yorktown Road Site (PDF) or the Community Garden Application – Hilton Site. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive information about your plot assignment from the Community Garden Coordinator.
