Join Newport News Parks & Recreation as we celebrate the great outdoors as only we can! The Outdoor Enthusiast Event will feature many offerings, exhibits and activities available for those who want to spend time with fresh air and scenic views. Kicking off at 10:00 a.m. the Outdoor Enthusiast Event will feature a rock-climbing wall, a live gator show, axe throwing, boating activities, horseshoes, hiking, disc golf, camping exhibits, ninja warrior course and a traveling lumberjack show. The event will welcome best-selling author and internationally recognized survivalist professional, Cody Lundin who will be on hand to provide insight into wilderness survival skills and primitive living. The event will also host a Parkour and World Chase Tag game. Food and beverage vendors will be on site selling a variety of foods, treats and beverages. Free give-a-way items will be available at the Parks & Recreation Information tent while supplies last. Admission to the event is free with a $5 parking fee. Satellite parking will also be available at Greenwood Elementary and Woodside High with free shuttle service.
